Imagine a $20 ripped, stained, dog hair infested couch, with a $200 slipcover on it. That's the best way I know to describe the Villas. They just spent god knows how much to repaint the exteriors (and I'll admit, they do look nice), yet the insides are molding, cracking, peeling etc. Our back door had a hole in it for 5 months before they finally came and replaced it, despite many calls and complaints about our heating bill going up. When I moved out, I asked resident relations for permission to use one of the many vacant parking spots for three days while I packed, and they told me that I could pay $25 a day to use a spot three blocks away. I also discovered a patch of mold the size of a pillow behind my dresser, and mold all over the closet walls. Living in SF is expensive no matter where you rent, but for the amount of money the Villa's brings in, the quality of living is poor. One of the only conveniences is the proximity to SFSU, if you are a student. Other than that, I can only describe the Villas as a form of financial rape.
